How many races have you ran in total?
2015 & 2014 BSR, Ocean City Duathlon (2 mile run, 16 mile bike, 2 mile run), multiple 5K races.
Is this your first time participating in the BSR?
2016 will be my 3rd year in a row.
When did you first develop the passion & motivation to run marathons?
2013 - 3 years ago. My blood work (cholesterol level) was elevated and I wanted to lose some weight. I also wanted to reduce stress and I like to eat.
What do you consider your greatest running achievement?
2014 BSR…I passed over 14 thousand runners during the race and I was very surprised with my time.
What is your training regimen leading up to the race? How far in advance do you begin training?
I start ramping up my training in mid-March. I run 5 days a week. I ramp up to 25 to 30 miles a week – with the long run for 10 to 13 miles.

One run is elevation, one is a speed run (my fast paced run lol), one run is distance; the others include some core and weight training.
Do you belong to a runners club or run with a group?
I run by myself but I follow some runners and bikers on Strava
What's your preferred brand of running shoes?
Asics Kayano, Brooks Transcend
Besides running, are there any other fitness-related activities you do to prepare?
Road biking, spin, duathlon training, stretching, core & weight lifting
What is your favorite outdoor location to run/train?
Rails to trails bike path in Glassboro, NJ and sometimes I run the length of the Ocean City bridge. My wife drops me off at a park in Somers Point and I run to my nephew‘s house In Ocean City. The bridge is 2 miles long, total run that day is 5 miles.
Do you have any race day rituals?
I get up super early and stretch and watch the BSR news on TV.
What does your diet look like leading up to race day?
I always try to eat healthy, not always successful. I hydrate multiple days in advance. I have some fish, vegetables and mashed potatoes the night before and that morning I make oatmeal from scratch. This year I will eat some additional healthy snacks prior to the race.
